We are delighted to announce that the Francis Bacon: Human Presence exhibition is moving to the internationally renowned cultural institution Fondation Pierre Gianadda in Martigny, Switzerland.
The exhibition will be held there in partnership with The National Portrait Gallery, London, from 14 February to 8 June 2025. Most of the paintings from the London exhibition are travelling to Switzerland for the show, with thirty in total to be on display along with some of Bacon's iconic photographs.
The foundation’s website calls it 'A Raw Tribute to Humanity' and describes 'a bold curation that intertwines paintings and photography, the exhibition goes beyond a simple retrospective to become an existential exploration. It plunges into the obsessions and paradoxes of an artist who laid bare the brutal reality of human existence.’

Fondation Pierre Gianadda has featured Bacon's works in previous notable shows but this is the first time it is holding an exhibition dedicated to the artist.
In addition to the exhibition, on 20 March 2025, art historian Martha Degiacomi from Fondation Pierre Gianadda will deliver a lecture titled "Bacon, Portrait" in Megève, France. This talk, also held in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery, will delve into Bacon's life and his distinctive approach to portraiture.
