FRANCIS BACON AND THE ART OF THE PAST

Several Francis Bacon paintings are currently on display in Russia at The State Hermitage Museum exhibition 'Francis Bacon and the Art of the Past'. This exhibition celebrates the 250-year anniversary of The State Hermitage Museum, and is within the framework of the UK-Russia Year of Culture 2014. Thirteen Francis Bacon paintings are on display from the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, from the collection of Lisa and Robert Sainsbury. Further Francis Bacon paintings from the Tate Gallery, London; Art Gallery and Museum in Aberdeen, Yale Center for British Art in New Haven, United States; Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin, as well as the paintings from private collections, are also displayed at the exhibition. In 'Francis Bacon and the Art of the Past', Bacon's art is complimented by works from the State Hermitage Musuem, including Egyptian art, Greek and Roman sculpture, and paintings by Velazque and Picasso. For more information, including ticket prices visit the exhibition website.
